Is the LG G6+ coming to AT&T and other US carriers next year?

Image
The LG G6 is already available in the United States and customers can buy one from all major carriers, but the slightly improved version, the LG G6+ isn't officially available for purchase in the country. Of course, you could go ahead and buy the international version on Amazon, but that will not come with a warranty and it's not even working with all US carriers, as you'll only be able to use it on AT&T and T-Mobile. However, it appears that an AT&T version of the LG G6+ that goes by model number H871U has just been spotted on LG's open source website. The bad news is we can't confirm the H871U is indeed the LG G6+, although we do know that the regular variant comes as H871. There are also three other versions of the LG G6+ listed on the same website, which might or might not correspond to the other major carriers in the United States: LG LS993U (Sprint), LG VS988UB (Verizon) and LG H872UBL (T-Mobile). If you're not aware, the LG G6+ comes with 128

Samsung responds to battery issue on the Galaxy Note 8 and Galaxy S8+

Image
Last week, we told you that some Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and Samsung Galaxy S8+ units were getting bricked after the batteries were drained completely to 0%. Once these  phones  shut down, they could not be resuscitated by any method. While horrible news for the owners of affected models, at least we aren't seeing these handsets blow up, which is what happened last year when the batteries inside the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 failed. That led the latter to get recalled twice and finally removed from store shelves. Samsung took a hit in excess of a billion dollars because of this debacle. At this point, the best thing that Galaxy Note 8 and Galaxy S8+ users can do is to avoid a problem is to make sure that they are charging up their batteriesbefore they get down to 0%. Samsung is in the middle of investigating what is going wrong with these two devices. Ironically, after the Galaxy Note 7 explosions last year, the manufacturer said that it would begin the process of implementing an

Intel Unveils Industry’s First FPGA Integrated With High Bandwidth Memory

The Intel® Stratix® 10 MX FPGA is the industry’s first field programmable gate array (FPGA) with integrated High Bandwidth Memory DRAM (HBM2). By integrating the FPGA and the HBM2, Intel Stratix 10 MX FPGAs offer up to 10 times memory bandwidth compared to standalone DDR memory solutions. (Credit: Intel Corporation) Intel just launched the Intel® Stratix® 10 MX FPGA, the industry’s first field programmable gate array (FPGA) with integrated High Bandwidth Memory DRAM (HBM2). By coordinating the FPGA and the HBM2, Intel Stratix 10 MX FPGAs present to 10 times the memory data transfer capacity when contrasted and independent DDR memory solutions1. These transmission capacity abilities make Intel Stratix 10 MX FPGAs the fundamental multi-work quickening agents for superior registering (HPC), server farms, organize capacities virtualization (NFV), and communication applications that require equipment quickening agents to accelerate mass information developments and str

Linux vs. Windows web Hosting, does it make a difference? Video Proof

Image
One of the most confusing decisions someone new to web hosting will have to make is which platform their server should be on. There are a number of different choices out there but the main two are Linux and Windows web servers. There are also a lot of sources of information about hosting, but the majority of them are tainted by the author's biased personal opinion unfortunately confusing the issue. Having just put in some solid hours researching the topic I have come to the conclusion that in general it quite probably does not matter which server you use. For the majority of people it will be far more important to choose a really good web host than to worry about the server-type that they implement.  Microsoft developed and owns the Windows operating system. Linux is open source and generally free. This means it can often be more expensive to set up and run a Windows server. However, this fact doesn't really affect you unless you are actually setting up a

US says Romanians hacked Washington DC police cameras

Image
Washington police security was compromised by a computer hack in January US prosecutors have charged two Romanians with hacking Washington DC police computers linked to surveillance cameras just days before President Donald Trump's inauguration. The pair are being held in Romania, having been arrested at Bucharest Otopeni airport on 15 December. Mihai Alexandru Isvanca, 25, and Eveline Cismaru, 28, allegedly accessed 123 outdoor surveillance cameras as part of a suspected ransomware scheme. Mr Trump was sworn in on 20 January. The US Department of Justice said the case was "of the highest priority" because of the security surrounding the presidential inauguration. The perpetrators intended to use the t:camera computers to send ransomware to more than 179,600 email addresses and extort money from victims, the justice department said in a statement. Investigators have identified victims who had received the ransomware or whose compute

The man who can't face the internet

For someone who likes anonymity, it is no surprise that Jonathan Hirshon enjoys remote places such as northern Lapland Earlier this month, Facebook announced it would be using facial recognition to let users know every time a photo of them had been uploaded to the site. Such a feature would be extremely useful to one man - public-relations professional Jonathan Hirshon, who has managed to stay anonymous on the social network for the past 20 years. He has more than 3,000 friends on Facebook and regularly updates his profile with personal information - where he is going on holiday, what he has cooked for dinner and the state of his health. But what he has never shared on the social network, or anywhere else online, is a picture of himself. It is, he said, his way of "screaming my privacy to the world". "I choose to share virtually everything about myself on social media, but my face is the essence of me in

Rise and fall what a year for Bitcoins

Image
If you find a Bitcoin lying around in a pile of wires, you're rich Rejoice everyone, it is that time of the year again. This week's edition of Tech Tent is our annual festive quiz - and although I am writing this before taking part on one of the teams, I suspect that Bitcoin will feature among the questions. What a year it has been for the crypto-currency, which started 2017 worth less than $1,000 and by last weekend had climbed to within a few dollars of the $20,000 mark. For all of that period, sceptics have been predicting that the bubble would burst and in the past 24 hours it has seemed at times that this was happening. The price, which has been sinking all week, fell more than 10% in a matter of hours, dipping towards $13,000 before staging a partial recovery. Though as someone commented, it is moving so fast, any Bitcoin article is out of date five minutes after it is written. What is worrying is that we are at the stage in a

$ 19k Landwind X7, A Chinese Clone Crashes Into A $68k Range Rover Evoque (Photos)

Talk about accidentally meeting your lookalike. The notoriously famous $19,600 Landwind X7 from China based Jiangling Motor company finally met its twin, the $68,000 Range Rover Evoque, though in a rather unforeseen circumstance. Reports suggest that a red Jiangling Landwind X7 and a red Range Rover Evoque brushed against each other in the city of Chongqing, China. The crash itself wasn’t very serious.Nobody got hurt and the cars were only slightly damaged. Police decided that the driver of the Landwind X7 was to blame, and his insurance will have to cover the costs. Well, at least the Range Rover won this battle. Court Case The Landwind X7 came in news after Jaguar Land Rover filed a copyright infringement case against the chinese automobile manufacturer. But the chinese court declared both company’s (JLR and Jiangling) patents as invalid.
