The Chinese firm, which is reportedly on a roadshow ahead of an IPO that could value it as high as $100 billion, is said to have beaten Samsung ’s sales efforts in India, the world’s second-largest smartphone market behind China, according to new data from Canalys and Counterpoint. Data from both analyst houses gave Xiaomi a narrow lead over Samsung in the final quarter of 2017, with 27 percent and 25 percent, respectively, according to Canalys — and 25 percent versus 23 percent, according to Counterpoint. Counterpoint included year-long figures, which conclude that Samsung (24 percent) is ahead of Xiaomi (19 percent) over the longer timeframe. Driving Sports Car Is More Enjoyable Than Kissing & Watching Football – Ford Says

Image
We experience a range of emotions, including road rage, fatigue and even excitement when driving a car. Now, Ford has developed a car that can read these emotions, and display them on the vehicle. Working with Designworks, Ford created the  Buzz Car , a customised Ford Focus RS incorporating wearable and artificial intelligence technology. The driver wears two sensors on the wrists, one that monitors heart rate, and the other which measures the skin response. Every time the sensors detect a  buzz moment’ i.e when the driver is excited and their heart rate increases , a dazzling light display appears across both the interior and exterior of the car. According to their results, driving sports car gives a 2.1 high-intensity buzz moments, which is more emotional than cheering your favorite football team, watching a “Game of Thrones” episode, and even a passionate kiss with a loved one. Ford says only riding a roller coaster with its occasional highs delivers more buzz moments.

Samsung Says "Nigeria Is Incampable Of Manufacturing Mobile Phones"

Image
The Chief Executive Officer, CEO, of Samsung Electronics Africa, Mr. Sung Yoon, on Thursday disclosed that manufacturing a mobile phone required about 400 different components, none of which is available in Nigeria. Speaking during an interactive session with journalists in Lagos, he stated that another reasons Samsung Electronics could not establish a manufacturing plant in Nigeria is because the company’s market share in the country is not big enough. Yoon pointed out that though Samsung was the leading consumer electronics company in Nigeria, its share of the Nigerian market is smaller to South Africa’s. He said that the company’s smartphones market size in South Africa is 80 per cent, but is lower in Nigeria…

In Turkmenistan , a country wedged between Iran, Afghanistan, and Uzbekistan, drivers don’t get to choose the color of their cars. Their president chooses for them. After first implementing a stop on importation of black cars into Turkmenistan in 2015, President Kurbanguly Berdymukhamedov has now banned all black cars throughout the country’s capital, Ashgabat, from January 2018 forward. For the last few weeks, dark coloured vehicles have been seized by police because the country’s president considers white to be lucky. He is a known lover of white, living in a white palace and travelling in white limousines in line with his belief the colour brings good fortune. To retrieve their cars, their owners are reportedly required to sign a document agreeing to respray the paint in a lighter color. This order from the federal government immediately increased the prices of the local auto body shops from about $500 for a full car respray to $1,000 and more, in a count

With the Google Assistant at the core of two new Pixel phones and a huge push for the smart home with the Google Home, AI is now at the very core of Google products for the year. The big benefits of AI came to fruition in the Pixel 2's excellent camera that takes computationally-enhanced photos that rival the best out there, but apps like Google Photos and many others including search are better because of AI. So what will Google be up to in 2018? We want the company to do better in a few key areas and these are our top 10 wishes for Google and Android in 2018.  Go back to leading rather than following Ever since Google introduced the futuristic and spectacularly failed Google Glass wearable, it seems that the company has taken a bit of a back seat when it comes to leading in the mobile device space.
