Google has added a convenient rewind feature to YouTube

Image
Don't say that, but YouTube, which is constantly being polished and brought to mind, has its drawbacks. Some people think that it is slow to load videos, others complain that ads constantly appear, and others do not like playlists. As in any other business, there is always someone who will be constantly dissatisfied. To avoid this, the development team tries to release something new. This time, the new feature is the ability to rewind videos, which will make them even more convenient to view. At the same time, not only those who use Android devices will be able to try the update, but also those who have chosen to view iOS and even the browser. If you've ever had to scroll through a long YouTube video to go to a "good" place, you'll appreciate the new feature that YouTube has prepared. Now you can view not only the full video, but also the chapters from it. This feature uses timestamps that creators apply to their videos, allowing viewers to easily navigate

What happens if Google disappears?

Image
It's not every day you think about this question. But let's imagine for a moment that Google has suddenly disappeared. The company no longer exists. What will become of the world? What will happen to the Internet? What will happen to those who use the company's services every day? We will try to answer all these questions in this article. And you should start with the most important thing: what does Google do and what does it give to the world? Of course, the most important thing is the Google search engine. Without it, users around the world will not be able to efficiently and quickly find the information they need. They will start looking for an alternative to the search engine. Bing and other similar little-known search engines may replace it, and in some countries, local options similar to Yandex search will become popular. For Russia, the lack of Google search should not become a very big problem. by the way, Yandex search appeared much earlier than Google's so

Introducing the new Search Console

Image
This Post was Sourced From webmaster.googleblog.com A few months ago google released a beta version of a new Search Console experience to a limited number of users. They are now starting to release this beta version to all users of Search Console, so that everyone can explore this simplified process of optimizing a website's presence on Google Search. The functionality will include Search performance , Index Coverage , AMP status , and Job posting reports. They will send a message once your site is ready in the new Search Console. They started by adding some of the most popular functionality in the new Search Console (which can now be used in your day-to-day flow of addressing these topics). They are not done yet, so over the course of the year the new Search Console (beta) will continue to add functionality from the classic Search Console. Until the new Search Console is complete, both versions will live side-by-side and will be easily interconnected via links i

Latest January update for Pixel phones brings "anti-aging" display fixes

Image
Google is not wasting any time and it kicks off 2018 with an important update for its Google Pixel lineup of phones that helps with aging of the AMOLED screens. The update has already started rolling out for the Google Pixel 2 XL, but also for the Pixel 2, as well as for last year's Google Pixel and Pixel XL. The interesting detail was not openly publicized by Google, but instead comes courtesy of an update listing over at Canadian carrier Telus. Right now, it's hard to pin-point what exactly Google remedies with this update, but chances are that this is about fixing the severe burn-in problems reported on Pixel 2 XL's AMOLED panel. We have reached out to Google to provide us with a more detailed answered and we'll update you as soon as we get it. Google has earlier downplayed the display issues on the Pixel 2 XL, but has nonetheless committed to improving the phone over time. If anyone of you has received the update and notices any differen

Android Messages 2.8 introduces a white navigation bar

Image
White navigation bar in Google Messages 2.8 In November of last year, it became clear that Google has a plan to  mitigate screen burn-in on the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL  by introducing light-colored nav bars in its apps. Well, to be absolutely fair, this won't negate the problem, per se, but rather "even out" the burn-in, so you don't end up with an imprint of the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen. The Google app and Google Photos were first in tow to receive the treatment, and now it's time for Android Messages to follow suit. One of the biggest culprits for uneven screen burn-in on the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, as well as last year's models, is the persistent navigation bar that Google uses – a black stripe with bright, white buttons. Since the navbar is almost always on-screen, after extended use, it is bound to leave its mark on the OLED panel. Or rather, preserve the area at the bottom, while the rest of the screen gradually succumbs to bur

Share Tweet Share Tags :   Google + Google has invested an undisclosed sum in Chinese game live-streaming platform Chushou, bringing the start-up's total funding to north of $120 million,  Reuters  reported. Founded in 2015, Chushou is an e-sports and streaming service that lets users live stream games from their smartphones. The platform has an estimated total of 8 million streamers and 250,000 live streams a day. Live streaming and e-sports platforms are growing in popularity in Asia, and the world as a whole, and Google's investment comes as no surprise. The U.S. company's aim is to expand Chushou's reach beyond its home market, according to company executives. Furthermore, Google has been targeting the Asian country as a potential market to expand its

Google looking into Pixel 2 XL bug that affects volume of audio clips sent via a messaging app

Image
The latest problem affecting the Google Pixel 2 XL is one that Google is already looking into. Complaints have been posted on the Pixel User Community of the Google Product Forum. According to these posts, voice clips sent through a messaging app by a Pixel 2 XL carrying this bug, are arriving on a recipient's phone with very low volume. This is occurring with messages sent through WhatsApp, Instagram, Snapchat, Google Allo, Telegram and other platforms. The low volume occurs regardless whether the recipient is wearing earphones or using the receiving phone's speakers. Affected Pixel 2 XL units are running both Android 8.0 and Android 8.1. Those who were suffering with this issue while using the former build say that the update had no effect on the bug. The good news is that Google is aware of the problem and is looking into the matter. A manager on the Google Product Forum page says that he will look to gather some information via bug reports and private informat

January Android security patch will protect Android users from Spectre vulnerability

Image
Google is getting ready to protect Android users from a new exploit dubbed Spectre. The latter can affect processors from Intel, AMD and ARM which means that mobile devices are vulnerable. An affected handset can leak sensitive information including passwords. The good news is that it is not as easy to exploit compared to other vulnerabilities. Since Spectre can infiltrate cloud servers, customer data belonging to corporations could be at risk. Google has a posting online that explains how these vulnerabilities can affect its products. The company says that exploitation on Android is difficult and limited. The January Android security patch will protect devices running the open source OS. Google also states that Google Search, YouTube, Google Ads products, Maps, Blogger, and the customer data held by Google, are protected. So are Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, and other G Suite services. Another new exploit called Meltdown is designed to affect only devices powered by Intel processo

Our Top 10 wishes for Google in 2018

Image
Google has had a busy 2017 and artificial intelligence (AI) has been the keyword for the company this year. With the Google Assistant at the core of two new Pixel phones and a huge push for the smart home with the Google Home, AI is now at the very core of Google products for the year. The big benefits of AI came to fruition in the Pixel 2's excellent camera that takes computationally-enhanced photos that rival the best out there, but apps like Google Photos and many others including search are better because of AI. So what will Google be up to in 2018? We want the company to do better in a few key areas and these are our top 10 wishes for Google and Android in 2018.  Go back to leading rather than following Ever since Google introduced the futuristic and spectacularly failed Google Glass wearable, it seems that the company has taken a bit of a back seat when it comes to leading in the mobile device space. Google is still at its top game in software, but n

Google Play Music 4-month free trial offer is back, but not for everyone

Image
From time to time, Google lures more customers into using its music streaming service, Google Play Music,  by offering free trials . If you've missed any of the previous Google Play Music deals, you're in luck since Google is now running a new promotion aimed to add even more consumers to its music streaming service. For a limited time, Google offers new customers four months of its music streaming service for free, as part of its “ 12 Days of Play ” promotion. Unfortunately, the deal is not available to everyone and it's unclear what qualifies people for this promotion. Some  Google Play Music subscribers  claim they have been able to enroll in the trial and get four months of free music streaming service even though they are not new customers. Also, the deal does not appear for many consumers, and the only way to find out whether or not you can benefit from the 4-month free Google Play Music trial is to actually visit the promotion's page. If it doesn't show u

Samsung reportedly working on a Chrome OS tablet with high-end CPU and camera

Image
Samsung is reportedly hard at work on a new Surface-style, detachable tablet, codenamed "Nautilus", which will be powered by Google's Chrome OS. What's more interesting, is that Samsung is apparently not aiming for the high-end, not holding back in the hardware department, even when it comes to the camera. That's interesting, considering how Chromebooks have never had great cameras (not that anyone's complaining). According to  Engadget,  "Nautilus" will be powered by a 7th gen Intel Core CPU, much like the competition from Microsoft, and will also employ a Sony IMX258 sensor in its main camera. That's the same sensor that LG used in the LG G6, which is pretty surprising, considering that Chrome OS-powered devices have never had strong camera game. In fact, the best camera you can find on a Chromebook right now is a 720p shooter with very limited capabilities, notes  Chrome Unboxed . Clues about the "Nautilus" tablet have

How to get Pixel 2's portrait mode on the original Pixel, the Nexus 6P, and the Nexus 5X

Image
Camera NX is a Google Camera mod that has previously brought neat Pixel 2 features, including HDR+ and zero shutter lag, to older Pixel and Nexus devices, and even some non-Google phones. However, one of the best new camera features of the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL—or at least on of the  trendiest —has yet to make its way to other phones, by official means anyway. Yes, we're talking about portrait mode, and we're happy to report that this changes with the latest version of Camera NX! Camera NX V7.3, released a couple of days ago, brings Portrait mode to the original Pixels, as well as the Nexus 6P and 5X, which means that all initially exclusive Pixel 2 features have now been ported to older devices! Best of all, no rooting or tinkering is required! It's as easy as downloading the app from the Google Drive link provided bellow and installing it on your device. Portrait mode takes the place of the "Lens blur" option, tucked away in the hamburger menu,

HQ Trivia game for Android goes live in the Google Play Store, play to win real money

Image
Popular mobile game HQ Trivia has finally made its debut on the Android platform  after a short beta testing period . Although the game shows as “unreleased” in the Google Play Store, it appears that everyone can download and play it. HQ Trivia has quickly become a phenomenon after being released on the iOS since it's one of the few mobile games that allows players to win real money. If you make it to the end of the game and you collect at least $20, you can actually transfer the money to your Paypal account. But how exactly does  HQ Trivia  work? Well, it's pretty simple. Every day at 9 pm EST and weekdays at 3 pm EST, there are multiple trivia games hosted by a human player. Participants receive a push notification on their phones letting them know to launch the app. Once a question is asked, players have 10 seconds to choose the correct answer. If they get it right, they advance to an even harder question. Rinse and repeat until you make it to the end of the ga

YouTube app removed from Amazon Fire TV kit early

Image
Amazon Fire TV boxes now send people to the YouTube website The YouTube app has been removed from Amazon's Fire TV devices four days earlier than expected, as a dispute between Amazon and Google continues. Fire TV devices now encourage people to use the YouTube website in a web browser instead. t:Google had warned it would remove the t:YouTube app from Fire TV devices on 1 January. It said the two companies had not reached an agreement to provide access to each other's services. Earlier in December, Google said: "Amazon doesn't carry Google products like Chromecast and Google Home, doesn't make Prime Video available for Google Cast users, and last month stopped selling some of Nest's latest products. "Given this lack of reciprocity, we are no longer supporting YouTube on Echo Show and Fire TV. We hope we can reach an agreement to resolve these issues soon." On Friday, t:Amazon said in a statement: "You
