Earth has many noble cities
Bethlem, thou supersede them
Out of thee our Lord from heaven
Come and to rule Israel.
The glory of star supersede
The glory of the morning sun
The star that reveal’d Jesus birth
Him that was born in the flesh.
Eastern sages at His cradle
Made oblations rich and rare
See them give in deep devotion
Gold and frankincense and myrth.
Sacred gifts of mystic meaning
Incense doth their God disclose
Gold the King of kings proclaimeth
Myrth His sepulchre foreshows.
Jesus whom the gentile worshipped
At thy glad Epiphany
Unto thee, with God the Father
And the Spirit glory be.
