INTRODUCTION
Jahdiel is a Nigerian gospel singer popular for the song “Heritage”. The name Jahdiel is a hebrew word meaning Jehovah gives me joy or Jehovah makes me rejoice.
She professionally began her music career in 2006 and released her debut album “Heritage” in 2008.
EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION
She was born In Ikoyi, Lagos, Nigeria. She grew up in a church pastored by her father. She did her primary and secondary education at Aunty Ayo International school, Ikoyi before going off to obtain a B.Sc degree in Chemistry.
MUSIC BEGINS
Jahdiel started singing at age of 5 at the choir of her local church before she began to play musical instruments like the piano and keyboard at age of 13. After being part of various singing groups, she released her debut album Heritage in 2008 which gained massive response thereby shooting her into the limelight and further earning her a nomination spot in the "Most Promising Artist or Group" category at the 2008 edition of Kora Awards.
HER MUSIC
In 2010 she releaded her sophomore album “Under Oath” with songs like "Ebube Dike", "Oh God" and "t:Ayaya", Under Oath earned her a nomination at the 2013 Nigeria Gospel Music Awards.
In November 2015, she released her third studio album titled Majesty.
Her music style is influenced by a blend of rock, English and afrocentric pop. When asked about her style of music, she told The Nation: "I think the blend of the English pop with African music makes it very, very different. If you listen to it for the first time you probably feel it’s not from Nigeria".
Jahdiel has been on tours in Asia, America, Europe and several parts of Africa spreading the gospel of our Lord Jesus.
