How to Install Mods on MyBB
1
EditWithout Plugin Uploader
- 1Download your desired Mod. It doesn't matter if it's from the MyBB website or not, but the MyBB site ones are verified and checked.
- 2Extract the file on your computer. Make sure you keep the original .zip file as you may need to upload it. If there is a file called "readme" or similar, open it and read it. Follow any instructions inside it, like preliminary file editing.
- 3Open up your FTP Program/cPanel.
- 4Upload your files, maintaining the correct data structure. That means, if there is a file found in "inc/plugins/test.php", you would upload the test.php file to the inc/plugins directory.
- 5Log in to your Administrator MyBB account and navigate to your Admin CP.Provide your Username and Password to authenticate yourself.
- 6On the Configuration menu, select "Plugins". Next to the Plugin you downloaded, select "Install and Activate". Follow any extra instructions and your Mod is installed!

EditWith Plugin Uploader
- 1Download and install Plugin Uploader.
- 2Complete Steps One and Two as above. You must keep the .zip file. If there are any file edits outlined in the readme, complete them and place them in the .zip file in the exact same place as you found them (if you edit the file inc/plugins/test.php, replace it in inc/plugins in the .zip file).
- 3Go to your MyBB website and log in to the Admin CP.
- 4Go to the Plugin Uploader, located in Configuration>Plugins>Upload Plugin.
- 5Choose "Choose File" and select your .zip file. Fill in your Plugin Uploader password, set "Install and Activate" to yes, and press Submit! Your Mod is installed!
EditWarnings
- Anybody with access to your database can alter Plugin Uploader and allow themselves access to it. It is recommended that you do not allow anybody access to your files unless you trust them completely. If you hold a shred of doubt, don't do it.
- Be careful using Plugin Uploader. It cannot upload all .zip files, and anybody with access to it (only the Super Administrator / Person with User ID of 1 can by default) can upload malicious files to the Database.
