INTRODUCTION
Yemi Alade is a Nigerian Afro-Pop singer, known as the Yoruba-Igbo girl owing to her dual heritage to both the Yoruba and Igbo ethnic groups of Nigeria. Her mother is Igbo hailing from Abia State and her father is Yoruba from Ondo State.
She gained prominence after winning at the Peak Talent Show in 2009 and is known for her outrageous hair styles and fashion sense.
She is popularly known for her single johnny.
EARLY LIFE
Yemi Eberechi Alade was born March 13th, 1989 to Mrs. Helen Uzoma Alad(nee Uzoma) a business woman and Mr. James Alade a police officer. she is the 5th child in a family of seven, she has 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
Growing up she lived in so many states of Nigeria due to her father's job as a policeman. She attended St Saviour British Primary School and Victory Grammar School both in Lagos before getting a Bachelor Degree in Geography at the University of Lagos.
Growing up she was not allowed to party and so channeled her energy to creativity, performing at her schools musical competitions and plays.
MUSIC BEGINS
Yemi Alade grew up listening to popular music from the late eighties to the early nineties as a child, she started singing in her church choir at the age of 12.

According to Yemi, she started singing when she was young. "Dad used to play King Sunny Ade's music; mum was a fan of gospel tunes. My brothers used to play a lot of Usher and R Kelly songs, but I never wanted to do music. It was my mum that exposed me to it and made me take to it. I never planned to do music. I'm grateful to her now." 
She was an underground performer for 7 years, performing from club to club for free. She says "I did seven years of free shows going from one club to the other and selling myself".
 
She made her musical debut in an all-girl group called Noty spices in 2005, but her music became popularly known after she won the Maiden edition of Peak Talent Show in 2009.
She later released her first single Fimisile featuring elDee under the "Jus Kiddin" label
In 2012 she signed unto Effizy records and released her single GhenGhenLove. Both here boom came with the release of the hit single "Johnny".
HER MUSIC
In July 2013, Alade released the video for her romantic afro-R&B song "Bamboo", "Bamboo" went on to be a moderate hit and a popular wedding song.
In the last quarter of 2013, she broke records when her hit single, "Johnny", produced by selebobo was leaked on the internet. The song became an international smash hit as it dominated music charts in Tanzania, Kenya, Ghana, South Africa, Liberia, Uganda, Zimbabwe, and the United Kingdom, among others. It has been listed as one of the best songs of 2013, despite the fact that it was released towards the end of the year and without a music video. 
Yemi also sings in French and has a French version of Johnny.
She also headlined the Super Diva’s Nite at the 2013 Calabar Festival, and opened for the 2013 Headies Awards.
In 2014 Alade teamed up with award-winning cinematographer Clarence Peter to create a music video for "Johnny", which was released in March 2014 to critical acclaim and had more than 32 million views on YouTube, by December 2015.
She released her debut album 'King of Queens' on 2 October 2014.
TODAY
Yemi Alade has been featured on the covers of several magazines and performed around the world, sharing the stage and songs with artist home and abroad like Mary J. Blige, Shina Peters, M.I, Wizkid, Becca, May D, Waje and Yemi Sax. 
In March 2016 she released her second studio album titled 'Mama Africa'
