OxygenOS 5.0.1 update for OnePlus 3 and 3T brings adaptive mode, more

Image
OnePlus continues to bring new features and improvements to the OnePlus 3 and 3Tsmartphones. There have been at least two important updates that these devices received this month only, but OnePlus doesn't seem to have finished and we can expect more to be released early next year. Although the last OnePlus 3 and 3T update of the year is nothing major, it still brings a couple of new features that were requested by fans. Also, the December security patch is making its way into both OnePlus smartphones less than a month after its official release. System Added support for aptX HD; Added Wi-Fi hotspot device manager; Added “adaptive mode” screen calibration; Updated Android security patch for December; General bug fixes and stability improvements. Since this is an incremental OTA (over the air) update, it will be available for a small number of OnePlus 3 and 3T owners, but a broader roll-out will begin in the next few days, so you should be able to benefit from th

LG G6 scheduled to receive Android 8.0 Oreo by February, but there's a catch

Image
LG G6  is one of the many flagships that has yet to be updated to the most recent version of Android. Although the South Korean company promised to deliver Android Oreo to the LG G6 as fast as possible, it looks like the update won't make it live until next year. As some of you probably know by now, LG has already kicked off an  Android Oreo beta program for the G6 , but it's only available in China. Now we have more information that indicates the Asian version of the LG G6 might be the first to receive the update. According to LG Customer Service, an Android Ore update for the  LG G6  will be released by February, which could mean that those who own the smartphone might get it as early as next month. However, as mentioned earlier, LG's customer service refers to the H870S model, which is specifically built for the Middle East region. It remains to be seen how long it will take LG to make the update available to other G6 models. LG G6 VIEW MORE + 12 imag

Xiaomi Mi A1 now receiving the Android 8.0 Oreo update

Image
Xiaomi's first Android One smartphone, the  Mi A1  is finally eligible for an Android 8.0 Oreo update after a short period of beta testing. Unlike many of its Android smartphones that are selling exclusively in China, the Mi A1 is available in a lot more countries. Also, since it's part of the Android One program, the smartphone should be among the first to receive a major Android OS update. Unfortunately, it took Xiaomi quite a long time to bring Oreo to the Mi A1. Initially  introduced in China in early September , the Mi A1 made its debut in  select European markets  one month later. Soon after, Xiaomi promised an Android 8.0 Oreo for the Mi A1 will be available before the end of the year. Today's announcement fulfills that promise, even if not all Xiaomi Mi A1 owners will be able to update to Android 8.0 Oreo by the end of December 31. Finally, it's worth mentioning that Xiaomi added the December security patch in the update and  enabled fast charging

All the news that fits won't print as the New York Times closes its BlackBerry 10 app next month

Image
BlackBerry  and its faithful had high hopes for BlackBerry 10. After all, the company that developed the operating system, QNX, received high marks for its work on the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet. BlackBerrywas so impressed that it bought the company and had it get right to work on its next-gen operating system for smartphones, later dubbed BlackBerry 10. While the gesture based OS shared some of its capabilities with webOS, and there were some who loved the software, the hardware was a let down for many.  Instead of offering top-shelf handsets to compete with Apple and Samsung, BlackBerryproduced mid-range models that left a wide gap in performance. And speaking of gaps, BlackBerry users had to contend with the huge app gap as many popular Android appswere not developed for BlackBerry 10. One that was made available for BB10 users, the  New York Times  app, will no longer enjoy BlackBerry 10 support beginning next month. If you own a BlackBerry 10 powered handset, and that include

Floridians face a full ban on texting while driving if legislature passes new bill

Image
For now, Florida is one of seven states that requires those texting while driving to have committed another infraction before being charged with distracted driving. But that is about to change. The Florida state legislature will soon discuss the possibilities of pushing through a bill that will make texting while driving a primary offense. That means that the cops will be able to nail someone behind the wheel who is texting even if they aren't speeding, shifting lanes without flashing their signal, or driving a vehicle that doesn't have a license. First time offenders under the bill, would be fined $30 plus court costs, and would not be assessed any points. Many suggest that the bill is necessary, especially after data from 2015 revealed that accidents from texting and other forms of distracted driving resulted in an average of more than nine deaths a day in the state. Contrast that to the current law in Florida under which only three drivers a day on average, are cited for

This allows you to use features like "Continue on  PC " which is an  app  that allows you to start looking over a website on your  phone  and finish it on your  PC  screen. Earlier versions allowed Windows 10 users to skip this action if the user so desired. As it turns out, invisible

Alleged Huawei P20, P20 Plus, and P20 Pro designs leak out, triple cameras everywhere

Image
In the last three years,  Huawei  released P8, P9, and P10 series of smartphones, so we're now expecting the company to introduce a P11 family. However, this might not happen. According to a few leaked images originating from  China , Huawei's next generation P-series handsetsshould be called P20. Said images show schematics that allegedly reveal the overall design of three new Huawei P20 smartphones - a regular P20, a P20 Plus, and a P20 Pro. Apparently, all three handsets will offer triple rear cameras (though positioned differently). According to a previous report, Huawei's upcoming triple rear camera will have a resolution of 40 Megapixels, and "5x hybrid zoom" - in theory, this should be a great camera, but it remains to be seen if it can outclass other high-end smartphone cameras.   It looks like the Huawei P20 and P20 Plus will have pretty similar designs, with fingerprint scanners on the front, and triple cameras positioned asymmetrically on th
