Analyst says his colleagues are too bullish on the Apple iPhone X

Image
An analyst by the name of Nicolas Baratte works for Hong Kong investment bank CLSA. Baratte says that any one of his colleagues forecasting fiscal Q1 Apple iPhone X sales greater than 35 million units, is too bullish on the tenth anniversary device. Baratte's comment came after Apple reportedly cut its expectation of t:iPhone X sales during its fiscal second quarter to 30 million handsets from 50 million. Chinese tech stocks plunged following the release of this news. The CLSA analyst says that anyone who wanted an iPhone X last month has already purchased one, meaning that demand has been satiated. However, both Baratte and Piper Jaffray analyst Michael Olson agree that Apple can jump start the iPhone X market by cutting prices of the high-end model. Olson, who is bullish on Apple unlike Baratte, expects the tech giant to offer a lower-priced iPhone X model this year, and an iPhone X Plus premium variant as well. That dovetails with earlier reports that Apple will offer a 6

Apple apologises for slowing older iPhones down

Image
The company now says it will replace batteries for less and will issue software in 2018 so customers can monitor their phone's battery health. Some customers had long suspected the company slowed older iPhones to encourage customers to upgrade. Apple admitted slowing some phones with ageing batteries but said it was to "prolong the life" of the devices. In a statement posted on its website , the firm said it would reduce the price of an out-of-warranty battery replacement from $79 to $29 in the US for anyone with an iPhone 6 or later. In the UK the prices will drop from £79 to £25. It said it was pushing ahead with measures to "address customers' concerns, to recognise their loyalty and to regain the trust of anyone who may have doubted Apple's intentions". "At Apple, our customers' trust means everything to us. We will never stop working to earn and maintain it. We are able to do the work we love only because of your faith a

Apple's iPhones slowed to tackle ageing batteries

Image
Apple has confirmed the suspicions of many iPhone owners by revealing it does deliberately slow down some models of the iPhone as they age. Many customers have long suspected that Apple slows down older iPhones to encourage people to upgrade. The company has now said it does slow down some models as they age, but only because the phones' battery performance diminishes over time. Apple said it wanted to "prolong the life" of customers' devices. The practice was confirmed after a customer shared performance tests on Reddit, suggesting their iPhone 6S had slowed down considerably as it had aged but had suddenly sped up again after the battery had been replaced. "I used my brother's iPhone 6 Plus, and his was faster than mine? This is when I knew something was wrong," wrote TeckFire . Technology website Geekbench then analysed several iPhones running different versions of the iOS operating system and found some of

Google faces mass legal action in UK over data snooping

Image
Google faces its first mass legal action in  the UK over the iPhone-related claims t: Google is being taken to court, accused of collecting the personal data of millions of users, in the first mass legal action of its kind in the UK. It focuses on allegations that Google unlawfully harvested information from 5.4 million UK users by bypassing privacy settings on their t:iPhones. The group taking action - Google You Owe Us - is led by ex-Which director Richard Lloyd. He estimates the users could get as much as "several hundred pounds each". The case centres on how Google used cookies - small pieces of computer text that are used to collect information from devices in order to deliver targeted ads. The complaint is that for several months in 2011 and 2012 Google placed ad-tracking cookies on the devices of Safari users which is set by default to block such cookies. 'Abuse of trust' The Safari workaround, as it became known, affected a variety of devic

iPhone supplier stops illegal overtime

Image
Foxconn, a main supplier for t:Apple's t:iPhone, says it has stopped interns from working illegal overtime at its factory in China. It comes after a Financial Times report found at least six students worked 11-hour days at its iPhone X plant in Henan province. The practice breached Chinese laws preventing children from working more than 40 hours per week. About 3,000 students were reportedly hired to work at the t:Zhengzhou plant. Apple said the secondary school students worked voluntarily but they "should not have been allowed to work overtime". Both the tech giant and Foxconn have said the interns were "compensated and provided benefits". "Apple is dedicated to ensuring everyone in our supply chain is treated with the dignity and respect they deserve," the firm said in a statement. "We know our work is never done and we'll continue to do all we can to make a positive impact and protect workers in our supply chain." T

Apple Iphone X Face ID Fooled And Bypassed By Security Firm Using A Face Mask

Image
Last year, Apple pulled a big one on thier fans when they removed the 3.5mm audio earphone jack from their iPhone 7 smartphone. Although that came with a lot of critics, many iPhone users finally got used to it and even some android brands surprisingly joined in the trend. Now t:iPhone decided to go a step further by scrapping the Fingerprint Sensor (FPS) on their latest iPhone X, replacing it with a Face ID scanner. As expected, that didn't go down well with a lot of iPhone users as a lot of people questioned the level of security but Apple claims that Face ID is so secure that the odds of a random person using their face to break into someone's iPhone X is one in one million. Now it seems like a security firm has been able to defeat the new t:Face ID t:scanner on the new iPhone X with a mask. According to the security firm which is known Bkav, they claim to understand how AI works on Face ID and was able to bypass the feature and trick it.

LG V30 Vs iPhone X, Vs Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Vs Google Pixel 2 XL See the Best!

LG V30 hands-on redview: More exciting than iPhone X, Samsung Galaxy Note 8 or Google Pixel 2 XL? t:LG introduced us to the 18:9 t:extra-wide t:smartphone display on the t:G6, but the panel on the T;V30 isn't just a simple rehash of that screen. While we're looking at another screen with a pixel-dense 2880 x 1440 t:resolution, instead of an LCD like on the t:G6, the t:V30 goes with a low-latency t:OLED display. Beyond spelling support for t:Google t:Daydream, that means the promise of t:super-saturated, t:extra-bold colors.   Even though the company builds some of the finest t:OLED televisions on the market, LG has stuck to t:LCD panels for its flagships phones recently. That all changes with the V30, which features an OLED display instead. OLED panels offer more vivid colours, deep blacks and in general display more punch than the LCD counterparts. The t:6-inch 2880 x 1440 ‘Full Vision’ t:HDR 10 t:panel here looks immediately better than the one on the G6. It boasts th
