Gospel Music Vs Worldly Music Must Read!

Image
Hi everyone....A friend shared this so I thought I should present it here. What's your opinion? WORLDLY music vs GOSPEL music It was Debby's birthday and she was singing so loud as she took her bath. Everyone in the neighboring flats could hear her melodious voice, as she skillfully sang " I believe I can fly, I believe I can touch the sky, I think about it every night and day, spread my wings and fly away..." Her father Deacon Clement couldn't wait for her to fly away yet, as he shouted her down " will you shut up your dirty mouth, before I break that your wings, that you want to use and fly away" "Daddy What have I done again, this morning?" Debby asked "Everyone in this compound, knows am a deacon and you are busy singing all those devilish, WORLDLY song, that had no JESUS in it, on your birthday morning". " " &q uot; I was very fortunate to be exposed to music quite early in life

Praise God! (Medley)

Praise God (Medley) Praise God, praise God, praise God, praise God, Praise God, praise God, praise God! — Praise God, praise God, praise God, praise God, Praise God, praise God, praise God! Amazing grace, how sweet the sound, That saved a wretch like me. I once was lost, but now I’m found; Was blind but now I see. Praise God, praise God, praise God, praise God, Praise God, praise God, praise God! — Praise God, praise God, praise God, praise God, Praise God, praise God, praise God! Through many dangers, toils and snares, I have already come; ’Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far, And grace will lead me home. Praise God, praise God, praise God, praise God, Praise God, praise God, praise God! — Praise God, praise God, praise God, praise God, Praise God, praise God, praise God!

The King Of Who I Am

Image
This is my number one favourite song. I heard it playing on an audio cassette during a sad time in my life in the early 1990’s, and the words renewed my hope in God and brought me joy. Regardless of what is happening, Jesus Christ is the king of my life and thus . . . my days are always filled with laughter. (Well maybe not all 24 hours of each day, but most of my days are filled with laughter). The King Of Who I Am My days are filled with laughter, my heart has known your peace, I’ve traveled far still there is far to go; ‘Cause in my heart there is a longing to look upon your face, Where you are is where I want to be. Chorus: You are my King, you are the Lamb, Lion of Judah, seed of Abraham, The Holy One, God’s only Son. You are the King of who I am. Ev’ry road I’ve travelled down, you have walked before me, Made the light to shine out of darkness; I am looking for the day when I bow before you, Lay my crown at your feet. Chorus: Lord Jesus . . . You are

If You’re Happy And You Know It Clap Your Hands

This has always been a favourite children’s action chorus, but we also sang it as teenagers at Young People’s Meeting on Friday evenings. Uncle Alan would lead the singing back then, and every time . . . I mean every single time when we reached the part about stomping our feet, we could see him raising high his foot to the right side of the podium and stomping it. That always brought a smile to our faces. If You’re Happy And You Know It If you’re happy and you know it Clap your hands (clap, clap), If you’re happy and you know it Clap your hands (clap, clap), If you’re happy and you know it Then your life will surely show it; If you’re happy and you know it Clap your hands (clap, clap). If you’re happy and you know it Stomp your feet (stomp, stomp), If you’re happy and you know it Stomp your feet (stomp, stomp), If you’re happy and you know it Then your life will surely show it; If you’re happy and you know it Stomp your feet (stomp, stomp). If you’re happy

Oh Lord, You’re Beautiful!

This is another chorus we liked singing during praise an worship at UCCF in the 1980’s; however, I only remember our group singing just the first verse. Oh Lord, You’re Beautiful! Oh Lord, you’re beautiful, Your face is all I seek; For when your eyes are on this child, Your grace abounds to me. . . (See complete lyrics in the comments below)

Glorify Thy Name

Glorify Thy Name Father I love you, I praise you, I adore you! Glorify thy name in all the earth. Chorus: Glorify thy name, glorify thy name. Glorify thy name in all the earth Jesus I love you, I praise you, I adore you! Glorify thy name in all the earth. Spirit I love you, I praise you, I adore you! Glorify thy name in all the earth.

Victory In Jesus

For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. ~ 1 John 5:4 This is an all time favourite hymn, but the chorus which is posted here, is what we sing during evening services at church. Victory In Jesus O victory in Jesus, My Savior, forever. He sought me and bought me With his redeeming blood; He loved me ere I knew him And all my love is due him, He plunged me to victory, Beneath the cleansing flood.

Sons Of God Arise

This song came to my mind while I was doing my chores this morning; it is yet another chorus I have forgotten, since we don’t sing it in our church. When we learned this chorus at UCCF in the late 1980’s, it was sung vibrantly by Christian students who were powerfully clapping their hands and singing loudly; it was a great experience. The words of this chorus is a call for believers to rise up and to be actively engaged in spiritual warfare and to go in the anointing of the Holy Spirit (in what we do [hands]; say [mouth]; and where we go and what we stand for [feet] . . . in order to overcome temptations, challenges, and enemies. Sons Of God Arise Sons of God arise! Sons of God arise! From the ends of the earth arise, Fire in your hands, fire in your mouth, fire in your feet. Chorus: Fire! Fire! Fire! Fire to the enemy. Fire! Fire! Fire to the enemy! Sons of God arise! Sons of God arise! From the ends of the earth arise, Fire in your hands, fire in your

More Precious Than Silver

More Precious Than Silver Lord, you are more precious than silver, Lord, you are more costly than gold; Lord, you are more beautiful than diamonds, And nothing I desire compares with you. Lord, you are more precious than silver, Lord, you are more costly than gold; Lord, You are more beautiful than diamonds, And nothing I desire compares with you. And who can weigh the value, of knowing you, Oh, who can judge the worth of who you are; Lord, who can count the blessing, of loving you, Who can sing just how great you are . . . How great you are! Lord, you are more precious than silver, Lord, you are more costly than gold; Lord, You are more beautiful than diamonds, And nothing I desire compares with you. Lord, your love is deeper than oceans, Lord, your love is wider than seas; Lord, your love encompasses the nations, There’s nothing I want more inside of me. Lord, you are more precious than silver, Lord, you are more costly than gold; Lord, You are more b

Come Thou Fount Of Every Blessing

I awoke this morning with the words of this hymn on my mind; it was one of my favourites in the 1990’s. I haven’t sung it in ages, but I’m singing it today. Come Thou Fount Of Every Blessing Come Thou fount of every blessing, Tune my heart to sing thy grace; Streams of mercy never ceasing, Call for songs of loudest praise. Teach me some melodious sonnet, Sung by flaming tongues above. Praise the mount! I’m fixed upon it, Mount of thy redeeming love. Here I raise my Ebenezer, Hither by thy help I’m come; And I hope, by thy good pleasure, Safely to arrive at home. Jesus sought me when a stranger, Wandering from the fold of God; He, to rescue me from danger, Interposed his precious blood. O to grace how great a debtor Daily I’m constrained to be! Let thy goodness, like a fetter, Bind my wandering heart to thee: Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it, * Prone to leave the God I love; * Here’s my heart, O take and seal it; Seal it for thy courts above. . . * I mos

Blessed Be The Lord God Almighty

And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped God, saying, we give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned. ~ Rev. 11:16 – 17 Blessed Be The Lord God Almighty Father in heaven, how we love you, We lift your name in all the earth; May your kingdom be established in our praises, As your people declare your mighty works. Chorus: Blessed be the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come; Blessed be the Lord God Almighty, Who reigns for evermore. Father of mercy, be exalted, May Jesus’ name be lifted high; For his sacrifice of love has won my pardon, And his resurrection power gives me life.

How Great Is Our God, Sing With Me …

How Great Is Our God The splendor of a King, clothed in majesty; Let all the earth rejoice, all the earth rejoice. He wraps himself in light, and darkness tries to hide, And trembles at his voice, trembles at his voice Chorus: How great is our God! Sing with me … How great is our God And all will see How great, how great is our God! Age to age he stands, and time is in his hands, Beginning and the end, beginning and the end. The Godhead – Three in One; Father, Spirit and Son, The Lion and the Lamb, the Lion and the Lamb. Name above all names, worthy of all praise, My heart will sing, how great is our God! Name above all names, you are worthy of all praise; My heart will sing how great is our God! [sing chorus x 3 after last verse]

Who Is Like Unto Thee?

Image
Thou didst blow with thy wind, the sea covered them: they sank as lead in the mighty waters. Who is like unto thee, O Lord, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders? Thou stretchedst out thy right hand, the earth swallowed them. ~ Exodus 15:10-12 . One of the many memories from my college years, which I fondly recall, is about the sunny morning I sat studying under the cool canopy of trees outside the Students’ Union Center. A member of UCCF passed me by, carrying her bible; she didn’t see me as it seemed she was preoccupied with finding a secluded spot. She ducked into an empty classroom and as I glanced at her from a distance, I saw through the window that she was having her quiet time. She sang passionately, read her bible, and prayed. When she finished, she emerged from the classroom a refreshed, joyful soul, with evidence of peace of mind and contentment glowing from her face. She literally seemed to walk on cloud nine

There Is Sunshine In My Soul Today

There Is Sunshine In My Soul Today There is sunshine in my soul today, More glorious and bright; Than glows in any earthly sky, For Jesus is my light. Chorus Oh, there’s sunshine, blessed sunshine! When the peaceful happy moments roll. When Jesus shows his smiling face, There is sunshine in the soul. There is music in my soul today, A carol to my King, And Jesus listening can hear The songs I cannot sing. There is springtime in my soul today, For when the Lord is near, The dove of peace sings in my heart, The flow’rs of grace appear. There is gladness in my soul today, And hope and praise and love, For blessings which he gives me now, For joys “laid up” above. Text: Eliza E. Hewitt, 1851-1920 Music: John R. Sweney, 1837-1899

Trust His Heart

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Rom. 8:28 I learned this song from the radio; it played frequently on Love 101FM , and soon became one of my favourites. It is a song that I have been singing for almost 20 years. Trust His Heart All things work for our good, Though sometimes we don’t see how they could. Struggles that break our hearts in two, Sometimes blind us to the truth. Our Father knows what’s best for us, His ways are not our own; So when your pathway grows dim, And you just don’t see him; Remember your never alone. Chorus: God is too wise to be mistaken, God is too good to be unkind . So when you don’t understand, When don’t see his plan ; When you can’t trace his hand, Trust His Heart. He sees the master plan, He holds the future in his hand; So don’t live as those who have no hope, All our hope is found in him. We see the present clearly, He see
